Coloring Pages for Adults

Coloring is not just for children anymore! Some people might be surprised to learn that many adults have rediscovered the joys of coloring.

But, these coloring pages for adults aren't like your childhood coloring books. Many of these coloring pages contain quite detailed and intricate designs.

So, what has caused this resurgence in the popularity of coloring? Is it merely a return to the simplicity of childhood, or have people found the stress reducing effects and other possible health benefits associated with this old pastime?

With the current day stresses we're surrounded by, this certainly seems like the perfect time to pull out those crayons or colored pencils and maybe give this a try.

Several months ago, I decided to try this myself. And I have to say, I am really enjoying it. Coloring can be an extremely relaxing and mind freeing experience.

There are no rules, and you don't even have to color within the lines if you don't want to! The whole point is to relax and have fun. No one is evaluating you, no one cares how your picture turns out - and if you don't like it, throw it away and start over.

If you haven't colored in a while, it may take a little practice to get back in the swing of it, but the main point is to just have fun.

To get you started, I have put together a few coloring pages for you to download and print. I chose 3 pages with different levels of detail so there is something for the beginner to the more experienced colorist.

If you look at the picture above, there are samples of the 3 pages -

Petunias for the beginner or those who don't enjoy the detail level of the other designs

Kaleidoscope or Mandala type design for those looking for a little more detailed design

Abstract for the more experienced level or those who appreciated the highly intricate designs

These are some pages to get you started, now you just need the coloring tools. If you are just starting out, and you can't go borrow crayons or colored pencils from one of the kids, at least this is not an expensive hobby to start.

Colored pencils are most commonly used for adult coloring pages, but some people prefer crayons, especially for less detailed designs where there may be large areas to color. The advantage of the colored pencils is the finer point which makes it easier to color the smaller details. Here are some of the more popular coloring tools to get you started.

We talk a lot about being kind to others, but we all need to remember to be kind to ourselves too. So, sit down and relax and give it a try!
